Bezel Overload

Above is a picture of in proccess. I usually make twenty to thirty bezels at one time. Then I have to keep them straight as to which one fits which piece. It can be a puzzel at times. I number them as I work, but Oh No, the heat from my torch evaporates the alchohol based markers. It would seem a simple task, but some of these pieces of sea glass are so similar. In the end it all works out and something beautiful emerges from the effort. Thank Goodness!

Insight Meditation Center Auction

ITEMS FOR AUCTION

I’m so happy that these pieces will be included in the auction for the Insight Meditation Center in Redwood City, CA . I’ve never been, but as I sand, file and saw, I have let their Dharma talks calm and enlighten me. Or, at least, try to.

If this sounds interesting to you, go to http://www.audiodharma.org/ to stream some of the talks.

I also just finished a 6 week Introduction to Meditation course with them. I am so thankful for the opportunity to really learn the basics of the practice. I thought I had a little knowledge of it, that I would be a quick study. It turns out I am just an infant, after all.  I think that is a fine place to start.

For these pieces, I selected a palette that was not just serene, but also had a gorgeous inner glow. I hope that wearing them is a gentle reminder to be present and be kind.

SCAD Precious Metal Clay Workshop

I had a great weekend teaching Precious Metal Clay for SCAD. We weathered the storm that swept through Savannah, safe and sound in the sturdiness of Wallin Hall. Outside sirens blared and rain poured down,  but we were able to keep our creativity flowing. No one even began to make little tornadoes and flying houses out of PMC!

My group entertained me non-stop with their stories and discussions. C’mon guys, it’s supposed to be the other way around! But who really cares with such an amazing group of people!

More fun to come at SCAD. I will be teaching traditional metalsmithing techniques in “Hot Connections” and “Fabricated Rings”. Check out their schedule at http://www.scad.edu/programs/continuing-ed-summer/ce/courses.cfm.
