Precious Metal Clay Workshop

BEGINNING PMC (Precious Metal Clay) WORKSHOP

I’m  finishing up the firing from my last workshop at the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina (ACCC) in Hilton Head, S.C. It is such a wonderful place to teach!  I had kind, creative people who made some amazing pieces. For base metal, we used all Hadar Jacobson clay. One of my former students turned me on to her clays, books and info and I couldn’t be more thankful! Fired in this acid washed coconut carbon, I am getting a wonderful patina on some of the bigger pieces.

The shot to the left is one of my samples for our first project. We roll out a variety of textures and then incorporate them into a single piece. Here I used bronze clay, although we were mixing bronze and copper during the workshop for some interesting color variations. This project is in one of Hadar’s books. If you love PMC or hate it (since firing these base metals can be kind of tricky)  you should check her out – and if your in the Savannah/Hilton Head area sign up for a workshop with me! Beginning PMC starts in March at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). I will also  have some workshops and weekly classes at the Art Center of Coastal Carolina this Spring, which I’m very excited about!
